Many fans were stunned when news broke a few days ago that actress Drew Barrymore, 41, was getting a divorce from her 3rd husband Will Kopelman, 39, and now we can finally bring you the reason why.
According to PEOPLE magazine, a source close to the couple reveals “they’ve had marriage issues for a while.” Issues and disagreements that apparently included “tension over where to live,” adds the source revealing Drew was more interested in settling in Los Angeles while Will preferred New York.
Don’t these celebs talk about these things before getting married?
Another source tells Page Six that Drew’s widely documented difficult childhood, which included multiple rehab stints, might have played a role. “Drew had a very rebellious and wild childhood, with no family around her, and while she is a very different person now, and a great mother, some of that can stay with you,” reveals the insider.
The couple who share two children — Olive Barrymore Kopelman, 3, and Frankie Barrymore Kopelman, 1, — put out a statement regarding their separation.
“Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family,” the two said in their statement. “Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on. Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority.”
Drew, who has been open about her battle with postpartum depression following the birth of her second child, had previously revealed that having a family changed her outlook on her career.
Here’s to hoping this will be a peaceful and amicable divorce for the duo.
